A visual tour of all 905
Pokémon
In 1996 the first Pokémon games went on sale in Japan: Pokémon Green, Pokémon Red and Pokémon Blue.
That first generation of the game had 151 Pokémon.
Since then the Pokédex has kept on growing, and after 8 generations it now has 905 Pokémon.
The growth hasn't been steady: the number of new Pokémon has varied from one generation to the next:
Gen 1 - 151
Gen 2 - 100
Gen 3 - 135
Gen 4 - 107
Gen 5 - 156
Gen 6 - 72
Gen 7 - 88
Gen 8 - 96
The game's mechanics revolve around each Pokémon's type.
There are 18 different types in total: Bug, Dark, Dragon, Electric, Fairy, Fighting, Fire, Flying, Ghost, Grass, Ground, Ice, Normal, Poison, Psychic, Rock, Steel, and Water
The five that show up most often as a first type are:
Water - 124
Normal - 110
Grass - 86
Bug - 76
Fire - 58
And the five that show up least:
Flying - 7
Fairy - 22
Ice - 28
Steel - 30
Dragon - 31
But on top of that, 449 Pokémon have a second type (49.6% of the total)
The ones that stand out most:
Flying - 96
Poison - 36
Fairy - 33
Psychic - 33
Ground - 32
That means the Pokémon that are easiest to find are the ones with these types:
Water - 142
Normal - 117
Grass - 107
Flying - 103
Psychic - 91
And the hardest to find:
Ice - 41
Ghost - 52
Steel - 54
Fairy - 55
Dragon - 56
Out of all these Pokémon, two kinds stand out above the rest:
Legendary - 59
Mythical - 22
Legendary Pokémon include Mewtwo, Lugia and Rayquaza
And mythical ones include Mew, Celebi and Arceus
Now you can explore all 905 Pokémon, arranging their horizontal and vertical positions by their stats
