# Temperature records in Spain

🗺️ A map where each station is a dot colored by how long ago its last record was set: the more recent, the more eye-catching. You can switch between the hottest day (maximum) and the warmest night (highest minimum).

⏳ Since AEMET (Spain's meteorological agency) takes a few days to publish the final figure, in the meantime I show a provisional record calculated from each station's hourly measurements, flagged separately until it's confirmed.

📊 Each station also has its own page with all-time and monthly records and how they've evolved, and there's a page of overall data with rankings. That part has the most room for improvement and is still a work in progress.

🔓 It's inspired by a map The Pudding made a while back and relies entirely on AEMET's open data. The app, the data pipeline and the data itself are all public, and the methodology is explained on the site.
